Inside a Slowed & Reverb Generator: How Songs Become Cinematic
Slowed and reverb is an audio remix style that makes any song sound dreamier, more emotional, and spacious. You slow the tempo down — usually somewhere between 70% and 90% of the original — and layer in a reverb effect that makes the sound feel like it's echoing through a large, quiet room.
The result? Music that hits differently. Vocals feel more raw. Beats feel heavier. Melodies linger. It's why slowed + reverb tracks consistently rack up millions of plays on YouTube and dominate TikTok's "aesthetic" and "late night drive" niches.
This generator handles the whole process in your browser. Upload your file, move the sliders, hit preview, and download. No software to install. No account to create.
Four Effects, Infinite Combinations
What separates a mediocre slowed edit from one that sounds genuinely professional is how you layer the four controls together. Here's what each one does and how to use it well:
Speed Control (50% – 200%) This stretches the audio's time without automatically changing pitch — a technique called time-stretching. Pull it below 100% to slow the track down for that classic daycore feel. Push it above 100% to speed things up for nightcore-style energy. For most slowed edits, 70–85% is the sweet spot.
Reverb Level (0% – 100%) Reverb simulates the natural echo of a physical space — a small bedroom, a cathedral, a parking garage. Low settings (20–40%) add subtle depth without washing out the vocals. Higher settings (60%+) create that "underwater" or "3AM in an empty hall" atmosphere. Heavy reverb works best on slower tracks with prominent vocals.
Pitch Shift (-12 to +12 semitones) Pitch and speed are independent here. You can slow a song without lowering the key, or drop the pitch without changing tempo. For the classic slowed reverb sound, a -2 to -4 pitch shift alongside an 80% speed gives vocals that deep, melancholic tone. Going positive takes you into nightcore territory.
Bass Boost (0% – 100%) Amplifies the low-frequency range, making kick drums hit harder and basslines feel heavier. Works especially well with hip-hop, trap, and R&B tracks. Keep it below 40% on tracks that already have a heavy low end — too much can muddy the mix.
Starter settings for classic slowed & reverb: Speed 75%, Reverb 35%, Pitch -3, Bass 25%. From there, use the Preview button to hear the effect and fine-tune.
Supported Formats
You can upload audio files in MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, and AAC format. The tool validates the file type on upload and will return an error if the format isn't supported. For the cleanest output, start with a lossless or high-bitrate source — the processed file is always exported as a 320kbps MP3.
How to Turn Any Track Into Slowed & Reverb
Step 1 — Upload your audio Drag and drop your file onto the upload box, or click "Select Files" to browse. You can upload several files at once and apply the same settings to all of them in a single pass.
Step 2 — Set your effects Adjust the four sliders in the Audio Effects Studio panel. The values update in real time as you drag. There's no wrong starting point — the preview feature means you can experiment without committing.
Step 3 — Preview before committing Click "Preview Effects" to hear how your first uploaded file sounds with the current settings. This processes the track and plays it directly in the browser. Click "Stop Preview" at any time to go back and adjust.
Step 4 — Apply to all files Once you're happy with the sound, click "Apply Effects." The generator processes every uploaded file using the same settings. Each result appears in the list below with its filename, size, duration, and which effects were applied.
Step 5 — Download Download individual files with the per-file button, or grab everything at once with "Download Audio" — if multiple files were processed, they come packaged in a single ZIP file.
Step 6 — Clear and start fresh "Clear All" removes all uploaded and processed files, resets the sliders to default, and hides the results section. Useful when you're done with one batch and moving on to another.
A Note on File Storage
Uploaded and processed files are stored temporarily on the server and automatically deleted after approximately one hour. If you try to download a file after it's been removed, the tool will show a "File not found" message — just re-upload and process again. This also means your audio is never stored long-term on our servers.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between slowed + reverb and daycore?
They're effectively the same thing — "daycore" is the community term for slowed + reverb style edits, coined as the opposite of "nightcore" (which is sped-up with higher pitch). Both terms refer to the same aesthetic. This generator handles both: slow it down and add reverb for daycore, speed it up and reduce reverb for nightcore.
Can I make a nightcore version with this tool?
Yes. Increase Speed above 100% (try 125–135%), set Pitch to +2 or +3, and keep Reverb low or at 0%. That gives you the faster, higher-energy nightcore sound.
Will slowing down change the pitch of my audio?
Not automatically. The Speed slider uses time-stretching, which changes the tempo without affecting pitch. If you want to lower the pitch as well — which is common for slowed edits — use the Pitch Shift slider separately.
Does the preview process the whole track?
The preview processes and plays back your first uploaded file with the current slider settings. It does not preview multiple files at once.
What happens to my original file?
Nothing. Your original uploaded file is kept unchanged in temporary storage. The generator creates a separate processed output file. Clicking "Download" gives you the processed version — the original is never altered.
What if my file disappears before I download it?
The server runs a cleanup job that removes files older than about one hour. If a processed file gets removed before you download it, just re-upload the original and run the effects again. It only takes a minute.
Can I process multiple songs at once?
Yes. Upload as many files as you want in one go. When you click "Apply Effects," the generator applies the same settings to all of them. You can download them individually or as a single ZIP.
What output quality does the generator produce?
All processed files are exported as MP3 at 320kbps — the highest standard MP3 bitrate. The quality of the output is directly tied to the quality of your source file, so starting with a 320kbps or lossless original will give you the best result.
Is this tool really free?
Yes, fully free. No account required, no watermarks, no per-file limits. Files are processed server-side and deleted automatically.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. The generator works in mobile browsers (Chrome on Android, Safari on iOS). The interface adapts for smaller screens, though the slider controls are easiest to use on a desktop or tablet.
